Sheree Martin
Sheree Martin serves as Deputy Director for Energy Alabama. She is a licensed attorney with more than 16 years experience as a practicing attorney with a focus on business law representing companies and business owners. Sheree is a graduate of The University of Alabama (B.A., J.D., and Ph.D.) and also earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. Sheree’s Ph.D. concentration is in communication and organizational development.
In 2014-15, Sheree was one of the leaders of a coalition of concerned citizens fighting the push for mining oil sands from the bitumen deposits in Hartselle sandstone in northwest Alabama. She has a certificate in Sustainable Food Systems Leadership from the University of Vermont School of Continuing Education.
In addition to her legal background, Sheree has worked as a tenure-track faculty member teaching courses in media law, public relations, and page design, among others.
Sheree loves to run, bicycle—mainly gravel and Rails to Trails type of environments—and hike. She’s also an avid cook, gardener, and an advocate for real food and sustainability across all aspects of life.
