Sustainable Energy Education

 

We recognize that the next generation is critical to the success of sustainable energy and our overall economy. To this end, we focus heavily on developing and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders through hands-on, interactive educational activities related to sustainable energy. We hope to provide an initial spark that motivates our students to think big and take bold action. We follow up these educational activities with volunteer and project opportunities that give students the chance to continue their interest in sustainable energy.

 


Sustainable Energy Lesson Plans

Students will create paper suns and use them to identify several ways that the sun’s energy is of benefit to us on Earth.

Students will learn about wind energy and know how to classify wind speeds based on environmental cues. They will also learn about the basics of harnessing the power of wind.

Kary the Evil Kilowatt (3-5)

Kary the Evil Kilowatt is a take home activity designed to help students identify energy consumption and energy savings opportunities at home. Students will quantify the savings associated with various energy conservation methods.

  • air leakage rate and air changes per hour our basic principles of air movement
  • air pressure boundaries are made up of walls, ceilings, floors, and joints
