The Alabama Public Service Commission is deciding how it will review contracts between Alabama Power and large data centers, single customers that can demand as much power as an entire generating plant. Energy Alabama filed initial comments calling for a published large load tariff, enforceable minimum obligations that keep the risk on the data center rather than on families and small businesses, public disclosure of who is buying the power, and an affirmative Commission vote on every contract.
