Marketing and Communications Intern

Energy Alabama seeking a motivated Communications Intern to join our team! As a Communications Intern, you’ll play a crucial role in developing content and executing marketing campaigns to drive education and advocacy efforts across Alabama. 

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager

Status: Part time

Salary: Starts at $15 per hour, based on qualifications

Location: Central Alabama preferred

The Position: Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will assist with executing impactful marketing campaigns across various social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Your creativity will shine as you develop engaging content to support our advocacy initiatives, and your analytical skills will be key in optimizing campaign performance through social media analytics.

As an integral member of our team, you’ll assist in developing media lists, drafting press releases, and pitching to local, regional, and national media outlets to amplify our advocacy efforts. Collaboration is fundamental in this role, as you’ll work alongside our Manager to strategize and implement communication strategies, ensuring attention to detail in all communications and marketing materials produced.

This internship opportunity requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week, with the majority of the work being remote. Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt position for 10-15 hours per week
  • Salary is expected to start around $15 per hour, based on qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns across various social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Create engaging video content, recording, and editing videos to support our advocacy initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze social media analytics to optimize campaign performance.
  • Assist in the development of media lists and writing/editing press releases.
  • Pitch local, regional, and national media outlets to garner coverage for our advocacy efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to strategize and implement communication strategies.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail in all communications and marketing materials.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior college student.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience in recording and editing video content.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work 10-15 hours per week, with the majority of the time being remote work.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in in-person events as needed.
