Montgomery, AL – Today, lawmakers advanced a bill that would take decisions about your electric bill out of the public eye and move them behind closed doors. Now the bill goes to the full House for a vote.
If passed, the Alabama Power Grab would strip voters of their right to elect the Public Service Commission and replace public elections with political appointments—shifting power from voters to backroom decision-making.
This bill is not law yet and there is still time to stop it!
We are encouraging Alabamians to:
- Contact their state representative and urge them to vote NO when this bill reaches the full House floor.
- Tell them utility decisions should be made in public, by officials accountable to voters, not through closed-door political deals.
